The abbreviated name, “AI 2”, is the scariest thing so far.
Time works differently in space than on other planets, so the decade and more that Extraterrestrial isolation fans were waiting for the sequel, it could have seemed like a nod to a different world. On dry land, however, it lasted 12 years. Now, after an initial teaser last month, we got our first look at Alien Isolation 2 during the Summer Game Fest main showcase by way of a cinematic trailer.
The brief clip features a station in disarray, a flamethrower, a scream, and a Xenomorph. All correct elements, then. According to developers Creative Assembly, the survivor horror sequel actually takes place on “a remote, storm-ravaged colony world,” giving the alien much more space to stalk its prey. Instead of being cooped up in a spaceship, players will “navigate the planet’s surface and explore the claustrophobic confines of the Weyland-Yutani outpost of Kurosaki Station.” So maybe not that much more space.
No release window has been confirmed for Alien Isolation 2. The game is coming to Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The trailer included pre-alpha footage, so it could be a while yet. As such, you may have to blink a few times before it appears.
