WWDC 2026 is two weeks away. Here’s a selection of things I hope to see in Apple’s new OS 27 updates that aren’t exactly rumored.
Health app on Mac
Apple introduced the Health app to iPad two years ago. It’s great to have access to all the data on the big screen.
Next, I really want to see Apple Health come to Mac.
Mirroring iPhone to iPad
The Mac introduced iPhone Mirroring last year, and it’s surprisingly useful for accessing and controlling iPhone apps that aren’t on the Mac (like Health).
iPhone mirroring is something I miss when using the iPad.
Mirroring iPad to Mac
Sure, it might not be for everyone, but it’s the logical conclusion to Apple’s great continuity game. Every Apple device deserves a portal to other Apple devices.
Upgraded Journal app on Mac
The Journal app was born on iPhone before arriving on iPadOS and macOS last year.
The Mac version lacks many of the content suggestions found in the iPhone and iPad versions. I hope that changes this year.
I also wish journal syncing were as instantaneous as Apple Notes. Journal on Mac is one of my most-used apps.
Switching the appearance of Liquid Glass on Apple Watch
I know Liquid Glass on the Mac has a bad reputation for not being as polished as the iPhone design.
For me, there’s something about the transparent liquid glass elements on the Apple Watch that still makes me a little uncomfortable.
This is especially true for notifications. I don’t use the tinted Liquid Glass setting on the iPhone, iPad, or Mac, but I would choose it on the Apple Watch if I had the chance.
Extended window limit on iPad
Apple significantly expanded the iPad’s windowing system in iPadOS 26 by adopting floating windows.
It’s so close to working, but the window system still has training wheels.
I think the limit is 12 application windows at a time. This seems like a lot, but I find it easy to have 12+ windows, mostly lightweight, in an “open” state on my Mac.
When I use the iPad in “laptop” mode, I suddenly feel like the windows are falling down again. It’s close, but not quite yet.
Wallet app everywhere
Apple’s Wallet app is great on iPhone. Hopefully, we’ll see it move from Settings to a proper app on iPad and Mac next.
Apple’s password experiment has shown how switching settings to a dedicated app can work on iPadOS and macOS. A wallet could do the same thing.
What do you hope to see at WWDC 2026? The keynote speech will begin in two weeks, on June 8. Apple will unveil iOS 27, macOS 27, and more.
